Press Release               dcFashionWeek to Showcase Full-Figure Models

Who says thin is in? Full-figure models will be on prominent display as part of dcFashionWeek, a series
of designer showcases to be held Sept. 13-19 at various locations throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

"Americans, particularly women, have an unrealistic ideal of beauty," says designer and show producer Ean
Williams. "True beauty comes from within and is measured not by weight or dress size, but rather by a
person's sense of self-confidence and style. The point is to make the most of what you've got, not try to
measure up to someone else's standards."

A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models, dcFashionWeek was created to
increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to
enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion. All of the events are
open to the public, but there is a $50 admission charge to the Grand and Final Show, which will be held
Sunday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, Va.

Shows sponsored by dcFashionWeek include Ready-to-Wear collections, hosted by USA Today, which will feature a
question-and-answer session for fashion journalists (USA corporate headquarters in Tyson’s Corner); an
industry networking show, which will include a voter registration drive (Club H20 on the D.C. waterfront);
an urban collection show, which will include a clothing drive (sweaters and coats) for the homeless
(Doubletree Hotel, Crystal City, Va.); and a couture collections show, which will feature a donation drive
of supplies to local area food banks (Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, Alexandria, Va.).
