Best-Dressed African-Americans
(PRWEB) August
18, 2004 -- Singer Patti LaBelle, model Naomi Campbell and producer/director of
Ebony Fair Eunice W. Johnson are among the best-dressed African-American women,
according to a just-completed survey of top black fashion designers. BET CEO
Robert Johnson, actor Taye Diggs and singer/rapper Andre 3000 are among the best-dressed
African-American men.
The complete list of winners – 10 men and 10 women – will be announced at the
Grand and Final Show of dcFashionWeek, to be held Sept. 10-19 at various
locations in the D.C. area.
“The winners not only excel at fashion, but also are at the top of their game
in music, entertainment, sports and business,” says Ean Williams, designer and
president of Corjor International, one of the sponsors of dcFashionWeek. “Each
one has created a unique and highly personal sense of style, which is the
hallmark of true fashion sensibility.”
A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models,
dcFashionWeek was created to increase economic development in the area of
fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the
visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion. All of
the events are open to the public, but there is a $50 admission charge to the
Grand and Final Show, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at the
Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, Va.
Shows sponsored by dcFashionWeek include Ready-to-Wear collections, hosted by
USA Today, which will feature a question-and-answer session for fashion
journalists (USA corporate headquarters in Tyson’s Corner); an industry
networking show, which will include a voter registration drive (Club H20 on the
D.C. waterfront); an urban collection show, which will include a clothing drive
(sweaters and coats) for the homeless (Doubletree Hotel, Crystal City, Va.);
and a couture collections show, which will feature a donation drive of supplies
