Mayor Anthony Williams Proclaims DCFASHIONWEEK

District of Columbia Mayor Anthony Williams issued September 3, 2004, an official proclamation from his Policy and Current Events office, proclaiming September 10-19, 2004, to be “DCFASHIONWEEK” in the District of Columbia.

“We are delighted with the mayor’s recognition,” said DCFASHIONWEEK producer Ean Williams, “as this event will benefit tourism, bring increased tax revenues, attract national businesses, voter’s registration awareness, clothing for the homeless and increase food bank supplies for the DC metropolitan area.”

A partnership of independent fashion designers, producers and models, DCFASHIONWEEK was created to increase economic development in the area of fashion design, clothing merchandising and modeling, and to enhance the visibility of the nation’s capital as a center of international fashion. All of the events are open to the public, but there is a $50 admission charge to the Grand and Final Show, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 19, at 6 p.m. at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, 1767 King Street, Alexandria, Va.

Shows sponsored by DCFASHIONWEEK include Ready-to-Wear collections, hosted by Troy Artis of USA WEEKEND Magazine (McLean, VA), which will feature a question-and-answer session for fashion journalists; an industry networking show, which will include a voter registration drive (Club H20 on the D.C. waterfront); an urban collection show, which will include a clothing drive (sweaters and coats) for the homeless (Doubletree Hotel, Crystal City, Va.); and a couture collections show, which will feature a donation drive of supplies to local area food banks (Hilton Alexandria Old Town Hotel, Alexandria, Va.).

For more information, please contact Ean Williams at (202) 271-7235 or submit your request via e-mail to DCFASHIONWEEK@corjor.com.
